Here are his very own tips:
80’s Redux
The 80’s were an incredibly exuberant period for makeup. This is a fun look for night, inspired by the likes of Cyndi Lauper – think strong eyes and bold colour. Black shadow lays the foundation for creating dramatic eyes, to which rainbows of shadows like cobalt blue, deep greens, bright purple, red, fuchsia and glitter add va va voom for your adventurous material girl status.
Try beginning with Napoleon Perdis Colour Disc #28 Irid Black at the outer corner of the top and lower lash lines, then sweep from the outer corner of the eye, tapering into a point out across the temple. Add splashes of colour to the mobile lid and inner corner of the eye, but remember not to go OTT to keep your look modern. Try Napoleon Perdis Ultra Pearl #55 Lapis, Loose Dust #12 Emerald, Loose Dust #10 Screaming Pink or if you’re feeling remarkably audacious try Loose Dust #39 Techno Glitter.
Think Pink…and Pale
Directly off the runway we are going to see pink lips – out with the red, in with the pink. It’s soft, it’s alluring, it’s sexy, it’s beautiful. Pink lips are a major statement, exuding a pure, soft and angelic mystique. This ’60s-inspired look flatters nearly everyone, perfect for those pale, twiggy like complexions. However if your a little more olive, steer away from pastels and go for something with a little more life to it.
It’s a good idea to first camouflage the natural fleshy tones in your lips with foundation or concealer before adding colour as this will prevent your lip colour from looking muddy or purple. Apply a tiny amount of lip conditioner (Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Lip Service) and then pat foundation over lips with your finger. Pucker your lips to get the consistency smooth and then pat your pink lip colour over the top. Try Napoleon Perdis DèVine Goddess Lipstick Electra, Gloss Patrol Sydney, or for the more olive skin tones try Napoleon Perdis Lip Patrol President Rose.
Between the Lines
Take a cue from the geometric Jean Paul Gaulttier collection and experiment with graphic black feline liner. From Cleopatra to a cyber-chic twist of a 1950s ‘flick’, it’s seen that a crisp black line can be the perfect accessory to any outfit this season. Napoleon Perdis China Doll Eyeliner Equinox is a gel liner which makes getting that crisp line a breeze. Whether it’s an elegant flick or cutting edge extension, try Napoleon Perdis Sable Brush 5a (Angle) or Sable Brush 2h (fine tip), these natural hair brushes will smoothly glide the product over your eyes for a phoenix finish.
Where There’s Smoke…
There’s fire!! Many of the 2009 collections have seen the combination of smoky gun metal grey mixed with fiery reds and coppers. In some cases it is a counterpoint to a myriad of neutral tones in the collections. Try blending Napoleon Perdis Eye Pencil Onyx all over the mobile lid and along the lower lash line. Take Napoleon Perdis Ultra Pearl #48 Charcoal and press into the lower lash line creating smouldering sophistication. Press Napoleon Perdis Ultra Pearl #33 Walnut over the mobile lid and remember to blend in an upwards, outwards motion at the outer corners of the eyes.
Pretty Edgy
Sculpt those cheekbones and craft the ultimate moody face. Try using a foundation one to two shades darker then your skin tone to sweep under your cheekbones, down the sides of the nose and through the socket of the eye. Try Napoleon Perdis Stick Foundation and a Synthetic Brush g14 to sweep under your cheekbones to define. Follow the line from the top of your ear to the side of your lip, but remember your contour should only be about the length of three finger tips. Complete your monochromatic look with translucent loose powder and nude lipstick; try Napoleon Perdis Lip Patrol Lieutenant Spice.
